Meetup: Keyboard Shortcuts for Financial Modellers

Date: Monday, 27 November 2017 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Location: Sydney

Duration: 2 Hours

Are you really working at your most efficient? Can you find a way to get the same task done in less time? Keyboard shortcuts (http://www.plumsolutions.com.au/articles/everybody-loves-shortcut) are a poorly understood strategy for work efficiency, and modellers can also benefit from this strategy. International Keyboard Shortcut day is coming up soon on 1st Nov and we will be holding a special meetup on 27th to celebrate! Expert Excel “shortcutter” Jacques Raubenheimer will take us through the gains we can obtain by using keyboard shortcuts, and how they can help us in practical ways to speed up Excel modelling. He will also teach us a proven strategy for actually learning and remembering keyboard shortcuts, which is the critical point at which many people’s forays into the world of keyboard shortcuts fail. Note that unlike our usual sessions, to get the maximum benefit from this hands-on session you will need to bring along your own laptop.

Jacques Raubenheimer (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacques-raubenheimer-15500911/) is a Senior Research Fellow in Biostatistics at the University of Sydney, and a self-confessed keyboard shortcut junkie. He has been working on Excel since Excel 5 for Windows 3.1 in 1994, and works on Excel on a daily basis, normally as a data-wrangling tool. He is a Microsoft Certified Trainer and holds the Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor certification, including the Expert level certificate for Excel. He has presented 174 computer training courses to date, which includes 57 Excel courses, from entry level to expert, including VBA macro programming in Excel.
