Hi, I'm looking at taking either your Financial Modelling in Excel course or your Data Analysis and Reporting course. (I will probably sign up for the Online Introduction to Financial Modelling in Excel course first). I'm not too sure which one I'll be better off taking. I am a manager who has a Commerce Degree, however I struggle with getting the information I need out of the P&L & Balance Sheet reports. On the other hand it'd like to be able to run some financial modelling to test what financial decisions I should make.
Are you able to shed some light on which course might be best?
Thanks for your enquiry.
From what you have said, I’d probably recommend the financial modelling one, because it is more financially orientated than the other. The Data Analysis course focuses mainly on using Excel for the purpose of data analysis, extracting the data and presenting data in order to communicate your message – including charts, presentations, reports etc, so there isn’t a huge focus on financial statements. In the Financial Modelling course, it’s about using Excel for modelling so we build a business case which includes a P&L and cashflow to assess the viability of a project using NPV, IRR and Payback period.
Yes, the Introduction to Financial Modelling online course is a good starting point to complete prior to either course.
Give me a call or email if you would like to discuss it further.
